PURPOSE OF POSITION:
To perform line service maintenance and construction functions in accordance with Upson EMC’s designated procedures.
MINIMUM JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

- Requires a high school diploma (or equivalent).
- Prefers completion of an acceptable Line School or Training Center.
- A minimum of five years progressive experience as a Line Technician with satisfactory performance appraisals.
- Successful completion of the approved Cooperative Apprentice Line Technician I-IV Training Program, including classroom and job competency.
- Demonstrable knowledge of the principles and practices in line construction services, operations and maintenance requirements in electric distribution system.
- Ability to read and interpret staking sheets, all RUS specifications and line construction assemblies, the NEC, and National Electric Safety Code.
- Ability to interpret the Cooperative’s electrical and mechanical tagging and other numbering systems, the layout of electrical transmission and distribution lines.
- Knowledge of Upson EMC’s policies and procedures.
- Excellent verbal and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with members.
- Flexibility to work varied hours in all weather conditions.
- Ability to maintain current American Red Cross Standard First Aid, CPR, and AED certifications administered by the Cooperative.
- Require DOT Flagging certification.
- Require ITS certification.
- Ability to obtain OSHA Safety 10 certification.
- Require and maintain a valid commercial driver’s license and DOT certification.
- Must pass Upson EMC’s employment entrance examination and drug screen.
